Best Run Toastmasters Joke of the day – August 4th 2011

In my Vancouver SAP Best Run Toastmasters public speaking club I present the Joke of the Day.

I first talk about democracy in Toastmasters, then move into a computer programmer’s joke, and then give a religious joke.

I highly recommend joining a Toastmasters club in your area to learn better communication and public speaking skills, meet new people, and have a lot of fun!
Visit www.toastmasters.org/ for more info.

Provence Marinaside in Vancouver BC Canada – fine dining

Provence Marinaside

Vancouver, BC, Canada

We enjoyed a really wonderful meal at Provence. Provence is quite a high end dining establishment – the food is extremely amazing and delicious, and for a special treat I definitely think it is worth the upscale price. The restaurant also has a great view of the False Creek waterfront from its Yaletown location.

Shown in video:
-Looking out the restaurant window at the patio and waterfront seawall beyond.

-The Wild Pacific Salmon entree
made with bamboo rice, shaved asparagus salad, crustacean emulsion

-The Seared Sablefish entree
made with snap peas, fingerling potatoes, fresh mint, roasted roma tomato, and a chorizo-tomato broth.

-For dessert:
a wonderful Lemon Tarte, made with hazelnut brittle and whipped cream.

Thanks very much!

Deserts the Falafel Oasis on Commercial Drive in Vancouver

Deserts the Falafel Oasis
905 Commercial Drive
Vancouver, BC, Canada

Deserts the Falafel Oasis is one of my favorite places for a vegetarian or vegan meal on Commercial Drive of Vancouver. It’s very reasonably priced (most items are between $5 and $10) and the Chef’s special is really delicious!

Shown in video:
-Interior of the restaurant on a sunny summer evening
-The restaurant menu above the kitchen
-the Chef’s Special platter – my favorite, a combination of Indian-influenced curries, with a slightly spicy but mostly mild taste.
-the Latke Patty – made with flour dough and potato, topped with tomato and various delicious sauces.
-the Falatke Wrap (a wrap made with both a Falafel and a Latke, and some vegetables, very tasty!)

Switching to Adobe Premiere from Final Cut Pro

Geoff from geoffmobile.com discusses his editing software for making videos, and why he’s switching from Apple’s Final Cut Pro (FCP 7) on a Mac to Premiere Pro (CS5) on a PC.

Technical notes:
This video was edited in Premiere Pro CS4 on an old 32bit PC computer running Windows Vista. When I get my new 64bit i7 computer later this week I will be upgrading to Premiere Pro CS5.
