Book review: My Friend Michael Jackson by Frank Cascio – Reviewed by geoffmobile

Geoff from geoffmobile.com reviews the book “My Friend Michael: Growing Up With The King Of Pop” by Frank Cascio.

This is an excellent book with an insightful and touching look into the personal life of one of the most fascinating, wonderful, and yet troubled and controversial celebrities, Michael Jackson.

From the Amazon.com synopsys:
“Frank Cascio was a close friend of tragic superstar Michael Jackson for more than twenty-five years. In My Friend Michael, Cascio offers a deeply personal, behind-the-scenes look at the Michael Jackson he knew. Filled with never-before-told stories and intimate details, My Friend Michael is the most candid, moving, and provocative portrait of the “King of Pop” to date—a fair and loving portrait of a true American pop music icon and of a remarkable friendship that endured through triumph and struggle, scandal and controversy.”

Erasing a Phrase
Q: Can anyone tell me how to erase a loop from the phrase recorder? I’ve tried every possible key combination and nothing seems to work. I’d appreciate if someone could tell me how! Thank you!

A: Yes there is a way. You need to change the number of bars of the phrase to a different number and then change it back right away, and then the phrase will be cleared. So if I currently have a four bar phrase, change it to a three bar phrase, and then change it right back to a four bar phrase, it will now be erased. I wish this was more clear in the manual :) Hope this makes sense!!

John Clerides, Founder of Marquis Wine Cellars – Food Talks Vancouver Volume 10

Food Talks Vancouver Volume 10
Theme: Food Talks goes WINE Talks for this edition!
Our speakers will touch on all aspects of the wine industry including British Columbia and beyond.

This evening was organized by Richard Wolak, Vancouver Foodster.

Topic: Nuturing & Developing a Wine Culture in BC

Speaker shown in this video is:

John Clerides
@MarquisWineCell
twitter.com/MarquisWineCell

Here is his bio, courtesy of foodtalks.ca

John was raised listening to stories about his father’s childhood in a Cypriot mountainside village. He heard about how his grandfather looked after his family of nine by raising an assortment of animals, and by growing their own fruits and vegetables. His grandfather also tended their vines and made wine, along with their local moonshine which was nothing less than racing fuel. The seeds were planted for his curiosity about food and wine.

In 1977 his career began like any other good Greek Canadian, in the family restaurant. Ten years in the restaurant business gave John a strong foundation for working with people and listening to his customers. Painfully aware of the frustrations locals had by the limited selection of wines and indifferent service, John jumped at the opportunity to open Marquis Wine Cellars in 1986. Inspired by speaking with many of his seasoned wine friends and his readings John’s quest for knowledge began.

John has travelled extensively though Australia, Washington, Oregon, California, Italy, Spain, France and Austria, sourcing unique, flavourful, undiscovered wines. Even after 25 years his quest for discovery remains unabated. You will most likely find John in either one of three places, at Marquis Wine Cellars assisting his clients, in a vineyard or cellar somewhere in the wine world, or his most preferred location: at the local ice rink playing hockey. You can follow here @MarquisWineCell
