(And it’s pronounced: KA-lee-bur, not Ka-LEE-breh; “calibre” is the correct spelling of what (in the Americas?) is spelled as “caliber”. 😊)

No need to “covert” to MOBI as an intermediary step, just convert from EPUB to EPUB!
In the Convert Books window, select Input format: EPUB and Output format: EPUB. does the trick just as well and no likelihood of any “incompatibilities” (between two different formats) creeping in to the result. 👍😉

When you convert the book to mobi and back to epub format, it might look bad after. What I would advise doing is utilizing Calibre to fix the errors in the book. You can do that by pressing F7, it will show you what is causing the problem and you can fix it very intuitively.

Calibre doesn’t work on mobile platforms, so this ‘tip’ is useless for a significant portion of Google Play Books users.
