Switching to Adobe Premiere from Final Cut Pro

Geoff from geoffmobile.com discusses his editing software for making videos, and why he’s switching from Apple’s Final Cut Pro (FCP 7) on a Mac to Premiere Pro (CS5) on a PC.

Technical notes:
This video was edited in Premiere Pro CS4 on an old 32bit PC computer running Windows Vista. When I get my new 64bit i7 computer later this week I will be upgrading to Premiere Pro CS5.

Camera: Canon EOS Rebel 550d T2i, with Canon 18-200 IS lens. Kodachrome picture style from cinema5d.com , Magic Lantern Firmware, Manual Audio Gain (a feature of Magic Lantern) was used.

The audio was recorded on a Lav Mic plugged directly into the camera, and the audio was adjusted in Audacity.

Sweet Obsession dessert restaurant in Vancouver BC Canada

Sweet Obsession Cakes and Pastries

We enjoyed a really delicious dessert yesterday at Sweet Obsession. It’s in the West Side of Vancouver (a quieter, wealthy neighborhood) and it’s really relaxing to go there because the streets are lined in old beautiful trees and there isn’t the crazy hustle and bustle of other parts of Vancouver.

Sweet Obsession has some of the tastiest desserts in town, and the restaurant atmosphere is really great! I will definitely take my out-of-town guests here when they are visiting Vancouver from Asia. Prices are reasonable too.

This has been another tasty “mmm” video from geoffmobile.com

See you next time!
Geoff

Bus tour of Shanghai China – July 2011

I rode a double-decker tour bus through Shanghai China and enjoyed taking in the sights and sounds. Here is a short video clip of some of the street scenes from my trip. When I got home, I recorded a voice-over on top of this video.

Thanks again to my colleagues for being so generous with their time and showing me around Shanghai!

Cheers,
Geoff

Recorded with Sony Cybershot DSC-HX7V in full HD 1080i. White balance was set to Daylight. Next time I’ll use a wind screen on the mic to prevent the wind noise. :) Edited in Final Cut Pro (FCP) 7.
