Geoff from geoffmobile.com does a 20 minute rehearsal / jam on his Korg MS-2000B analog modelling synthesizer.
My goal during this video was to develop / compose some new song ideas for rehearsing with my friend Jason (who plays electronic drums).
I begin with a discussion about the equipment used to film/create this video. The music starts at 1:09 .
I think I came up with 2 or 3 cool ideas in this short session, which I will hopefully flesh out later.
This video is more of a documentation of my creative process rather than entirely a performance (so may not sound interesting or pleasant the entire time). Also I realized when I started playing that the keyboard was too low, so I had a pretty uncomfortable playing position for this jam (but maybe that affected my musical ideas, for better or worse? :)
I am finding I really like the sound of the basic Triangle Wave patch, and find it suits my style and ideas well. The KORG MS2000 synth allows the basic patch to be easily modified in real-time using the many knobs. This is great for a live performance. I am only beginning to scratch the surface of what this amazing synth can do!
Thanks for watching, please subscribe, and see you next time :)
Technical notes:
Synthesizer: Korg MS-2000B
audio was recorded in stereo on my Sony IC Recorder ICD-SX712. No mastering or compression was done to the audio (it’s straight off the synth).
Intro camera is a Sony Cybershot DSC-HX7V with manual white balance.
Synth Camera is a Canon EOS T2i with Kit Lens 18-55mm IS, manual white balance, Standard picture style, ISO1600, Magic lantern (used auto restart feature for the video), manual focus.
Video was synced with the audio track using Pluraleyes from Singular Software, and the video was edited in Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5, on a Windows 7 Dell PC (Intel i7 and USB 3.0 for a faster workflow).
Geoff heads out to the Football Field using his green screen for a short test of the “Ultra Key” plugin in Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5.
Too bad I’m not in focus! Need to get a longer USB Cable so I can use my laptop as an external monitor for my camera (Canon EOS Utility live view) and focus while I am not behind the camera!
Filmed on Canon EOS T2i with Sigma 30mm F1.4, Technicolor Cinestyle, Magic Lantern. Edited with Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 on a Windows 7 Dell PC with Intel i7 and USB 3.0.
Geoff from geoffmobile.com discusses his opinion on whether Premier Christy Clark should lower the tuition fees for postsecondary education in BC. Tuition fee discussion starts at: 1:50 in this video.
Geoff also tells a new original joke about a man in a doctor’s office, talks about his Vancouver restaurant videos, and gives an update about his new Synth music recordings (available on this channel!).
Thanks a lot for watching and see you next time!
Cheers,
Geoff
