Here’s a short discussion about how to fix the dreaded “Couldn’t update the setting. Check your connection” error when trying to link, connect, setup, or reconnect your Google Home app to your Phillips Hue smart lights.
After an hour of trying, it turns out that by resetting the Hue bridge to factory settings and creating a brand new Hue account, and re linking the bridge to that new Hue account, and then setting up all my Hue devices, lights, switches, and scene settings, solved the issue for me.
