Android Auto doesn't work with Airalo esim in the USA -Dec 2024 how I resolved the issue

When using an Airalo esim for roaming data in the USA, Android Auto was crashing when it tried to start up, and would not load. This happened for me on a Samsung Galaxy S21 with a car supporting Android Auto that normally works when not using Airalo esim. Tried both wireless and cable (wired) modes.
