Visual culture and language<br \/>\n2. Communicate complex ideas quickly<br \/>\n3. Scalable to time and place.<\/p>\n<p>1. Visual culture and language<br \/>\n-We&#8217;re a visual culture: younger generation, TV watchers, a visual language of film.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; NyTimes:     &#8211; Average American: 34 hours of television each week (2010)<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Canada: around \u00bd that.  <\/p>\n<p>&#8211; 2-6 hours \/day of TV compared with 30 minutes of reading.<\/p>\n<p>2. Communicate complex ideas easily:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Documentaries have power to change real world (Super Size Me).<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Example of my new website for instant mashups to idea to reality in 1 week, developed by someone I don&#8217;t know.<\/p>\n<p>Combine sound and still or moving images, capture reality or show something abstract.<\/p>\n<p>3. Scalable to time and place<br \/>\n           &#8211; Anyone can watch a video, jump traditional hierarchies.<\/p>\n<p>Godfrey&#8217;s video idea gets noticed by directors.<br \/>\n           &#8211; Can reach a large audience, video player does the work for you (Youtube).<br \/>\n           &#8211; People watching don&#8217;t have to be located in the same place or time as you.<\/p>\n<p>(Sharing my videos with virtual friends in Berlin Germany, Vietnam, Japan, Australia).<\/p>\n<p>Conclusion:<br \/>\n&#8211; Ability to create, communicate in video, and interpret the language of video<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; will become an important part of literacy.<br \/>\nVideo language &#8211;     power to communicate complex ideas quickly,<\/p>\n<p>and scale across the globe or across an organization.<br \/>\nTechnology for making video is getting cheaper &#8211;
