Here\u2019s How to Get a Replacement (Without Damaging Your Gear)<\/p>\n<p>Hi there, everyone on YouTube! This is Geoff from <a href=\"https:\/\/geoffmobile.com\" class=\"autohyperlink\">geoffmobile.com<\/a><br \/>\nToday, I\u2019m here to do a quick video about what to do if you\u2019ve lost your key for your Thule or THULE products.<\/p>\n<p>Please subscribe :) <a href=\"https:\/\/youtube.com\/geoffmobile\" class=\"autohyperlink\">youtube.com\/geoffmobile<\/a><\/p>\n<p>We have a Thule Yepp Maxi bike seat for our kid to go on the back of our e-bike. Our kid is now too heavy for it, so we wanted to sell the bike seat. However, we realized we\u2019d lost the keys that let you unlock the bike seat from the bike. Without them, we couldn\u2019t remove it! I took it to a locksmith, and they said, \u201cI\u2019m sorry, we can\u2019t help you unlock the bike without damaging it.\u201d They offered to drill it out, but I said, \u201cNo, thank you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Next, I contacted the local Thule store here in Vancouver (located in West Vancouver\u2019s Park Royal mall). I called them first and said, \u201cHey, I\u2019ve got this Thule Yepp Maxi bike seat. How can you help me get a new key for it?\u201d They asked a few questions: \u201cWhat kind of bike seat? What color is it?\u201d I replied, \u201cIt\u2019s the blue one.\u201d They followed up, \u201cDoes it have a lot of holes on the seat?\u201d I confirmed, \u201cYeah, it\u2019s got a lot of holes,\u201d which definitely identified it as the Thule Yepp Maxi. I also sent them a photo of the lock, which uses a small tubular\/round circular key.<\/p>\n<p>They said, \u201cNo problem! We have that key in stock\u2014it\u2019s called the 08 key\u2014and it only costs about $5.\u201d They gave me two replacement keys and a free Thule key ring. I tried the key on the bike seat, and it works perfectly to unlock it!<\/p>\n<p>This is really good news because I\u2019d seen on Reddit that others had positive experiences finding this \u201c08 key.\u201d However, when I looked online, the key was out of stock on both the U.S. and Canadian Thule websites. Luckily, the physical store had them in stock, even though they aren\u2019t listed online.<\/p>\n<p>Important note: My lock didn\u2019t have the number \u201c08\u201d imprinted on it, but it still uses the 08 key, which is standard for all Thule Yepp Maxi bike carriers for kids.<\/p>\n<p>If you have questions, leave them in the comments below! The good news is that Thule supports their products well and provides spare keys for purchase if you lose yours. This also applies to their roof racks and other equipment, though those models use slightly different keys.
