Bob Murphy currently resides in Vancouver where he teaches jazz piano and composes. He has been teaching jazz piano at Vancouver Island University since the fall of 2006. Bob performs in concert settings regularly.

She recently performed in Portland Oregon, for the PDX Jazz Festival.Her second release as a leader was released in June, 2007 “Songs and Melodies” on talie Records.

Geoff from geoffmobile.com does a 20 minute rehearsal / jam on his Korg MS-2000B analog modelling synthesizer.

My goal during this video was to develop / compose some new song ideas for rehearsing with my friend Jason (who plays electronic drums).

I begin with a discussion about the equipment used to film/create this video. The music starts at 1:09 .

I think I came up with 2 or 3 cool ideas in this short session, which I will hopefully flesh out later.

This video is more of a documentation of my creative process rather than entirely a performance (so may not sound interesting or pleasant the entire time). Also I realized when I started playing that the keyboard was too low, so I had a pretty uncomfortable playing position for this jam (but maybe that affected my musical ideas, for better or worse?

I am finding I really like the sound of the basic Triangle Wave patch, and find it suits my style and ideas well. The KORG MS2000 synth allows the basic patch to be easily modified in real-time using the many knobs. This is great for a live performance. I am only beginning to scratch the surface of what this amazing synth can do!
