San Francisco is famous for their sourdough bread. One of the best places to get authentic San Francisco Sourdough is at Boudin Bakery and Cafe. Boudin is a San Francisco restaurant chain with many locations around the city.

We went to the Boudin location at Fisherman’s Wharf, and ordered the Clam Chowder in a Sourdough Bread Bowl. The bread’s texture was perfect – that chewiness you expect from good sourdough and an awesome hint of the “sour” flavor in the bread. The clam chowder was not too salty, and was very rich and creamy. It’s definitely not a light meal (it really sticks to your ribs!), but it’s something that (if you eat seafood) shouldn’t be missed in my opinion.

After eating we continued walking around Fisherman’s Wharf and we came across a beautiful “merry go round” amusement park ride – fun for the whole family! And of course we stopped to watch the many harbor seals that make the Pier 39 docks their home.
